Here's a more mature version of Verb's Dick/Balls take on pointing out the shortcomings of sensible public health officials/politicians
(is there a way to post an entire twitter thread on here so you can scroll through it? preferably like scrolling through an instagram album?)
And
some public health officials are doing better on this as of late:

I'll be comfortable being around family and friends without a mask once I'm vaccinated and I know they are too.
And I'll continue to wear a mask in public indoor/high-density places until community spread is pretty near zero in my area.

Given my demographics, I'm just about last in line to receive the vaccine.
That still makes me only a few months away from getting vaccinated though.

Truly will never understand some of y'alls dumb anti-mask shit. Half of you probably wear a hat all the time so people don't know you're bald, just treat it like that, but with stupidity.

The lies from a year ago primed some of us to instinctively distrust the official recommendations. I don't want to make a scene, so I comply.

If they were serious about masking as something other than social signalling, they would have done a project warp speed for N-95s or equivalent. They did not.

In what other parts of Trump's presidency were things done with expedient regard to science and data?
Project Warp speed could have been much better. He had no interest or ability to bring the bureaucracies to heel. A Dem govt inspired by the precautionary principle could hardly expected to do better.

Unless Joe is bringing in new staff to the FDA, CDC, NIOSH, etc that I haven't heard about.

There's no chance that hand washing is the key. I went back to the "squirt soap, touch other hand, rinse" method back in April.

20 seconds is hard.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

I’m good, but why wouldn’t I want the vaccine as soon as possible? Isn’t the goal to get everyone vaccinated as soon as possible, to hasten a return to normality?

Yeah I think a lot of the conspiracy minded think it's a power grab but it's really they are petrified of saying everything will be OK if you do X and X is wrong. They are coming from a position of fear not control.

Some co workers of mine apparently got some open slots today with hardly any effort. People are going to have access to this thing if they want it, and probably sooner than they expect.

yep, slots are now relatively easy to get in illinois outside of chicago. the city is lagging due to population size and also equity concerns, but the mass vax sites opening soon - that will receive their own supply directly from the feds - should help work through that so we can catch up.

Well, I've been on hold for 2 hours and 17 minutes. I'll let you know how it goes.

Why not just wait a few weeks? Production is going to slowly outstrip demand. Has decades of buying shit from 10club wrecked your brain for stuff like this? You're not even high risk.

The poor prevention practices at the FEMA clinic had made me rethink my risk. It's possible I can get a vaccine at that clinic, but that's not at all for certain, and it also guarantees I have to drive an hour to get dose #2.

After months of prodding our Provincial finally came out with a vaccination eligibility calendar last Friday. It was long term care home residents, long term care home workers, front line workers and then age (oldest to youngest, done in 5 year intervals until they get to 60 and then wide open). Yesterday they modified the program to go after outbreaks.

It may be the right thing to do but it just makes them look like they're making it up as they go. That the plan is whatever was written on the napkin that morning when they were having their coffee at Tim Horton's.

Between that and not following manufacturers recommended timing for second dose, is it no wonder people don't fully trust what they say. Add to that things like our Premier not knowing the social restriction rules when asked how he was going to spend Christmas. He said he was having his adult children over for dinner, something that is currently against the law. A law that he signed to put into effect.
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.

this has been the case worldwide for a year now. nothing new.

it seems that those of ya who don't want to mitigate anymore haven't come to the realization that there isn't a playbook for this, and thus, you decide it's better to not listen to any guidance whatsoever.
