Re: Unpopular Music Opinions
I think Oldham has transcended the Sad Folko Dad thing and just evolved into more of a general weirdo -- in fact probably some of the happiest, goofiest music in my whole collection is by him. And I've always thought Bill Callahan was pretty funny. Molina is the only one of those guys that just feels like a hardcore saddo to me (and unquestionably my least favorite of those three guys).Jorge wrote:Or Bill Callahan, for that matter. Or Songs: Ohia.
That entire Sad Folko Dad subgenre is an immediate turnoff for me
(This is not a personal attack on Simple Torture)
I understand lumping them together though.

Re: Unpopular Music Opinions
i like the national a lot (until around their like, 2010 shit) but I support making fun of them
at their best they're like neutered interpol but always were much more resonant to me

Re: Unpopular Music Opinions
Literally one of the best shows ive ever seen was a LIVE show in 2000 at my college campus. Not because I love LIVE by any means but it was the perfect storm of my freshman year of college drinking my face off from 7 am till the show. I remember stashing miller high life's in the dresser in our dorm room. I also played with a band....if i could call it that....in the outdoor rotunda that day as part of the end of the year festivities. Lol, i hadn't thought about that till just now.
Anyway, saw them in a college gymnasium and it was awesome. I just remember it being awesome.
I dont think i listened to them since.
Lakini's juice is a great riff.
