This is tough. I quite like both of these songs. But Just Breathe has dropped down a bit for me (Pearl Jam has other schmaltzy songs in a similar vein I prefer more, including Future Days, even though Just Breathe is the better composition and has one of my favorite PJ lyrical moments). And Black Red Yellow is cool and unexpected in all the best ways, and I haven't played it to death. I think it's gonna get my vote, but I may come back to this

Just Breathe should have been up again Tulumne.

I would have picked Tulumne. Here, I picked Black Red Yellow. More No Code era fun.

Oof. The first really painful match so far. I'm going with Just Breathe but I truly love both of these and I weep that one of them had to bow out this early in the tournament.

Wish both could win and advance.

Black Red Yellow is one of those vaunted PJ hidden tracks that never have done much more for me. I don't like the double-tracked vocal approach Eddie uses in the song; he does it in quite a few tracks over the years and it's often (though not always) grating. Just Breathe has some massive holes in it, but I've come around on it a bit over the years, particularly the instrumental eccentricities the band members add to a song that skirts close to feeling too by-the-numbers at times.

BRY is a killer performance of a mediocre song.

Just Breathe is an awful performance of a beautiful song.

I voted Just Breathe, but I'm currently singing Black Red Yellow in my head right now and regretting my vote a bit.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

I didn't expect JB to win but I thought it would compete. Yikes. What a loser that song is!
