The latter is wildly overrated, easy vote for the former.

I prefer On the Beach, but only narrowly. Everybody Knows... has so many bangers. Not overrated!

On the Beach.

Everybody Knows This is Nowhere is a great album. But On the Beach is on another level.

Keith Richards hasn’t been the best guitarist in the Stones sine Brian Jones was in the band. Ron Woods has carried the band on guitar for the last 40 years.

I've lived with Everybody Knowns much longer. I just heard On The Beach for them first time last year. Who knows what time will tell but everybody knows this is nowhere.

Em's first three records are pretty great. Even if I don't listen to them much anymore I still appreciate them. The stuff after that is hit/miss and a lot of it is forgettable.

Beyonce is amazing. Lemonade is amazing. But at least you're in the right thread. :D

Speaking of unpopular musical opinions, I don't care for the Rolling Stones. Just can't get into them.

'On The Beach' is Neils only great album. There are others very good ones but I don't think any of them reach greatness.

Agreed. I enjoy a few songs, but I have no desire to dig any deeper.

This makes me sad. I felt that way for a long time, but when I finally dig deeper, their use of the blues as a sort of base to reach out and grab the limits of rock music is mind blowing to me. To me they define rock n roll.

In fact, actual unpopular music opinion, I prefer them to the Beatles. Yes, their lows are much lower than the Beatles ever got, but at their height they captured a feeling that goes far beyond sonic maturity or well composed art pieces. They just owned what they were doing. I wouldn’t put Keith Richards in any best guitarist discussion on technical abilities - but conjuring some spirit or something in those simple chords, it’s akin to Pete Townshend but the blues version instead of the power rock version.

Yikes
I think there are a lot of great Neil Young albums but On The Beach is my favorite. After the Goldrush is very close to me and the second elite album of his for me. From there, Rust Never Sleeps, Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, Harvest Moon, Americans, Psychedelic Pill, Zuma, Mirrorball and Ragged Glory are the great albums for me. I really like a lot of what he’s doing in Le Noise, Reactor, Comes a Time, Greendale, Broken Arrow, A Letter Home, Chrome Dreams II, Hitchhiker, Homegrown, Tonight’s the Night, American Stars N Bars, Fork in the Road, Trans, Harvest, Storytone, Colorado, This Notes For You, and Time Fades Away. I am sure I am missing some, but not as enthusiastic about the rest. That’s all in no particular order.
