Re: 49. Far Behind vs. Strangest Tribe
I've given Strangest Tribe much more attention in recent years due to RM's love of the song. And the atmosphere is great. It's a decent xmas single song. I like it, but I don't get the obsession.
Far Behind should have been the song that kicks off Into the Wild. It's a perfect little muscular blast of energy, and captures the aggressive sense of freedom and possibility that is at the heart of the into the wild seduction. Great bridge, too. It is a model of how to make a quick disposable song not feel disposable. And while I prefer the electric version, the acoustic version is really good. Swallowed Whole, a song I like, is in desperate need of the open space that this song captures.
Easy vote for Far Behind, which I assume will get mauled.

Far Behind, along with No Ceiling and Hard Sun is one of the few ITW songs that stuck around for me, and certainly the one you could most easily imagine being a PJ song. But Strangest Tribe is the keeper. I wasn't a huge fan for a while, but while so many of my thoughts on PJ songs seem pretty calcified by now, I seem to keep finding new things or impressions in it when I hear it.

Far Behind is one of Ed´s solo songs that i actually love. I also think it would be fucking awesome if the band arranged it....but Strangest Tribe is pure magic.

Both of these songs are fine. Tribe gets my vote but I really don't care which song wins.

Strangest Tribe. That song makes me want to drive around quiet roads in the northeast during the night as a snowstorm rolls in. That thing knows how to set a mood.

Strangest Tribe.
I loved it when I first heard it. Shortly thereafter it took on a very personal significance, and that visceral connection has never faded. Just one of those things. I might vote against it eventually, but also, maybe not.

Annual reminder that Strangest Tribe is an absolute gem, and anybody who thinks otherwise is utterly wrong.
