Our tin shed collapsed under snow a couple years ago. I took it apart, left it in a pile and put an ad on craigslist "FREE SCRAP METAL." A couple meth heads came out to see it. They took one look at the pile in the back of the yard, looked at how far away their minivan was, and said they would take it if I hauled it to the curb for them. I ended up taking it to the metal recycling place in several trips. Cut the shit out of my hands and arms but made $7.96583UP wrote:i got rid of an old shed last year - pretty big wood one, with shingled roof, etcJuanHamm wrote:It's warming up here, so I have a few projects looming. I also need to replace my shed, which shouldn't be too bad. The hardest part of that will probably be getting rid of the old shed.
we were supposed to cannibalize it's wood to build a new one but due to a snafu during deconstruction had to just demo the whole thing
if i could do it all over again i would have just rented a dumpster
we wound up cutting it into pieces and i ferried it to the local dump in about 5-7 trips, and had to pay the guy at the dump bc technically was construction waste he's not supposed to take
fun times
was kind of exciting though

Re: The Home Improvement Thread
So I tore down our failing wooden play set (swings, slide) ... it was old.
Multiple people jumped at the chance to come haul all the wood away for $100 on Craigslist.
Well, first guy bailed so I reposted for $80 and again, multiple takers. Anyway guy rolls up in a battered pickup truck and said he planned to re-purpose it somehow (good luck, buddy).
Point being, when I have to demo my shed (near future) I will pay pennies on the dollar for someone on Craigslist to do it for me and haul it away. No rental truck, no dump fees, what a world.

I put a few rolls of old chicken wire on the curb and posted it to craigslist for free. Someone took several rolls but left two. Thanks man, now I still have chicken wire to dispose of. My situation has not changed.

I mean, I hated every second of it, but I was also 12, so I'm sure you can figure it out.

Yeah those are easy. Just dig up a little around them and unscrew them. Screw the new one on and you are good to go.

I remember having problems with not being able to find/fix a leak, but that's different from replacing the head itself.E.H. Ruddock wrote:Yeah those are easy. Just dig up a little around them and unscrew them. Screw the new one on and you are good to go.

Re: The Home Improvement Thread
Finding a leak can be tough, unless you have a visible damp spot in the area where the leak is. I watched some YouTube videos on cutting out old irrigation line and "welding" a new PVC section into place. Have done it about 3 times now. I'm basically a sprinkler system repair guy.Mickey wrote:I remember having problems with not being able to find/fix a leak, but that's different from replacing the head itself.E.H.
