Even though deep is probably second from the bottom on Ten for me, that's because Ten is a ridiculous album. Deep remains probably the hugest sounding song they've ever done, and there is a surprisngly deft touch to the lyrics and a go for broke performance from Eddie. It's a song I regularly undervalue.

Golden State is ehh. I probably should have linked the stripped down version. It's better.

I'm tempted to vote for Golden State. I lobbied hard for it as our first-dance song at my wedding. Really love it.

But as is the case with most of these matchups, it's going to be hard for any non-canon/non-full-band cover to beat out a halfway decent song, and I think Deep is more than decent.

I broke the shutout. Golden State is a good cover and Deep is weak link on Ten. Sorry folks.

I'm pleasantly surprised by Golden State after hearing it for the first time just now.
It has a real mid-2000s indie pop charm to it. Interesting genre for EV to take on.

Best discovery/rediscovery of the tourney for me so far, and thus it's getting my vote.

Deep is a freaking great song. The version from the Dissident single (Atlanta ‘94, I think) absolutely blows my mind. Ed is at his most intense and brilliantly insane, and the band is off the rails and still crazy tight. Definitely one of my favorite performances ever.

Golden State is one of the better covers Ed's done. I probably would have voted for it over a different opponent.

I love listening to early bootlegs where Deep is just unhinged. There was a beautiful fury to those early performances.
