Damn. This one’s very tough. I love Pilate and I have such an emotional attachment with Unemployable. Fuck.

Easy vote for Pilate, which I've come around to quite a bit over the years. I don't think it's a masterpiece or anything, but it's a lot of fun. I dislike just about everything about Unemployable - the music, the condescension in the lyrics, the shine on Eddie's voice, the uh-oh-oh moments. Easily the thing on S/T I like the least.

Why are the lyrics condescending?

I don't buy the empathy or that Eddie genuinely relates (which is surprising, since he's normally so good at it). It feels like a New Yorker article about the experience of working class people (it's the images chosen). It doesn't feel sincere or ring true to me

Interesting. I got the album early from the Ten Club the Friday before the release. I was fired from my job on Monday. The lyrics hit me right at home. And I already loved the music. Different strokes...

That's fair. I can totally see how that experience would transform the song. I love Future Days, but I don't know how I'd feel about it if I didn't have the connection to my kids.

This one is tough. I'll be happy no matter the outcome. But I'm going with Unemployable. That's the song I reach for most often between the two.

FWIW, I don't have kids and I adore Future Days.
