Take the Long Way vs. Infallible

Infallible falls short.

Take the Long Way is just top notch from beginning to end. I love eds delivery, i love the changes, classic Matt Cameron with a ripping Mike Solo.

What a great song!

Hmm, this is a weird matchup. Take the Long Way is a good song that's grown on me over the past year to be at least 3 stars.

I just listened to the first half of Lightning Bolt last week, so I've heard Infallible recently. It's pretty good, but leaves me wanting. I think the music and Ed's delivery are a shade or two too bright for the words he's actually singing. It doesn't quite align.

This may be a genuine coin flip for me, but I'm going to fight recency bias and vote Infallible.

Take the long way is the weakest song on gigaton for me. It's fine. On a good day it's a 3.5. I really like the backing vocals, and it's a good solo. But the riff isn't a favorite, and I don't like the lyrics or the somewhat flat affect Eddie has, especailly compared to the more committed performances elsewhere on the record.

Infallible does not live up to its potential (another song held back by L-bolt production), but I like the music, like the lyrics, and admire that it takes a big swing.

Yea, going with Take the Long Way. Though it's faded a bit for me since my earliest listens (where I genuinely loved it), it's still more interesting for me than Infallible, which feels relatively middle of the road.

Interesting match. I like both. But Takes The Long Way takes it. A top five song on Gigaton.
