Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

yeah maybe but that only speaks of how much of a talent Scorsese is. His career is unique and amazing.

Don't know that I agree. There were so many beautiful scenes (especially the dream in the apartment). DiCaprio and Kingsley were great. Solid mid tier.

This isn't mid tier any artist. It's one of the worst movies I've ever seen made by a competent filmmaker, let alone "a master."

It shocks me that you find any redeeming value in that movie. It shouldn't at this point. But man! I'm freaking surprised you didn't hate it.

I don't think it's a good movie but I meant moreso the weirdly personal angle of that comment.

That's true, I do remember Joe being a non-admirerer of ol Mart in the past.
