I like Deep, but it's just outclassed here. Daughter came up on shuffle earlier today. Man, what a song. So easy to take that one for granted.

I've definitely come around to liking Deep a lot after it becoming a pretty forgotten, skipable song for me for 15 or so years. But, yeah, its run must end here.

I totally dig Deep. And no drummer since Dave A has played it with such intensity and urgency.

But I have to go with Daughter. And no drummer has sounded good on it since Dave A

Daughter is just better. But that's no slight against Deep. Both of these are great songs.

Daughter is great and is cruising to a land slide victory so that makes my decision to vote for Deep easier. Deep was just fantastic in those early years. It’s ingrained in my mind and I just love that memory. Daughter is obviously special and I have no problem with it advancing.

The last time I listened to Daughter I remember feeling pretty underwhelmed by the end of it. Deep always kicks my ass. I'm rooting for the underdog here.

This is where I'm at here as well. Early Deep is incredible. And certainly no shame in losing to Daughter.

Gosh i remember loving Daughter so much back in 93...then somewhere along the line the song became more about what cover are they going to tag this time, then for a good 5-6 years i was just completely over it.

That little clip of Ed and Stone working the song out on a tour bus in the PJ20 doc totally rekindled my love for the song.

Daughter is easily a top 10 song for me. I never really think of Vs. as being one of my favorite records of the band anymore, just because I think there's 4-5 songs that are a little spotty, but that record's top 4 or 5 is pretty much as good as it can get.

I was just thinking this same thing there other day. It's wild that I have it ranked so low given that the highs are so high, like best songs they've ever released high.

I also agree, except I think there are more like 8 or 9 all time greats here with 2-3 songs that are not even that low but not essential to my Pearl Jam listening anymore. Vs. is the album that got me hooked. First time I heard it shortly after its release I felt like I had lived my whole life in those songs. They were so familiar to me even though it was my first time hearing it. Then, all 12 were essential. Some stayed with me longer than others.

For me, essential - Go, Animal, Daughter, WMA, Rats, Blood, Rearviewmirror, Small Town, Indifference

Non-essential - Glorified G, Dissident, Leash

My essentials list would lose blood, rats, and wma, but those highs are pretty f’ing high and I do like every song
