Interesting matchup. Two slow burn mood pieces. I've been talking about what I don't like about Sleight of Hand for years so I wont' rehash that here. Instead I'll just sing the praises of Cold Confession. I love adore Eddie's cracked crystaline vocal performance, the way it desperately chases without ever running , the spacey, fractured guitars. The cryptic but evocative lyrics. The way it, with intention, doesn't feel like a complete thought - like you are struggling to wrap your mind around a stunning loss you can't process because you cannot admit it to yourself. Admitting it would make it real. What a gem of a song that inexplicably didn't make it onto S/T.

I’d vote for Cold Confession over A LOT songs in this tournament. I really think it’s wonderful. But Sleight of Hand and Release are my two favorite songs, so SoH gets the nod.

Cold Confession is really great. Its new to me so I'm voting for it. Sleight of Hand is awesome too.stip wrote:Interesting matchup. Two slow burn mood pieces. I don’t know that I’d enjoy a “clean” release more. I love tattered feel of the song. But an official release would be nice. Time for Lost Dogs II.Thurman Murman wrote:Sleight of Hand but i really do love Cold Confession and hope we eventually get a clean release on that one.

Poor choice of words...i definitely don't want any sort of updated version i just want an official release of the one we know and love.PHATJ wrote:I don’t know that I’d enjoy a “clean” release more. There’s a charm to Cold Confessions having an unfinished quality to it that RM would lose its collective mind if the band in any way touched it (Exhibit A: Gone [demo]).

Easy vote for Sleight of Hand, though that's nothing against Cold Confession, which is a really, really strong song. The decision to leave those two tracks off of S/T remains the biggest mistake they've made when selecting what goes on and stays off a record.
