I can't imagine not seeing them whenever they play near me. The Decemberists are actually one of the only bands that I want to see live anymore. I'm more excited about seeing them for the dozenth time than seeing Pearl Jam again. And I've seen The Decembrists like four times since I last saw PJ.

They just keep getting better. Plus, the last time I saw them they played all of The Crane Wife, which was so special and amazing, but it meant that they played very little of I'll Be Your Girl. So I still want to hear a lot of those songs live.
I've seen them 5 or 6 times. They've always been good, but I've never enjoyed any of their shows as much as I enjoyed the first couple I saw in 2004, so I have a hard time justifying paying increasingly more and traveling to see them at bigger venues. And I really didn't like I'll Be Your Girl at all.

But shows in general are becoming rarer for me, so it's not just them.

I feel you on that last point. I'm really not much of a concert goer anymore. The Decemberists are the exception. I never miss them when they're in town. But I also never have to travel far to see them. That would change things for me for sure.

NPR interviewed Colin about a new song he wrote and recorded during quarantine.

The song is called "Slint, Spiderland."

I hope you get to someday. They're a lot of fun live. I've seen them on every tour they've done since 2004 and they just get better and better.

I don’t know. There’s something weird about paying money to sit in front of a screen.
