Went with CTG. It sounds like Ed's in the car with me when this one comes on. Great acoustic sound -that has to be his Gibson, I'd imagine?

If 7oC loses this round, I will find solace and die happy with the knowledge that I am better than most of you.

Gotta give a slight edge to CTG. That it’s about Cornell is a strength, not a weakness. I really miss the man and his music, and the weirdo fan in me has always been curious what happened between him and Ed.

Ed addresses their friendship and the loss of Chris just beautifully: Touching lyrics that never become saccharine, atop a beautiful composition that fully stands on its own as a solo acoustic piece (ok there are some very minor electric overdubs towards the end).

7:00 is a really great song in its own right, but I appreciate the craftsmanship more than I am emotionally moved by it.

I don’t think I knew this was about Cornell. I like it even more, now.

My thoughtful note about SevenO’Clock got stuck at the bottom of the last page. I stand by that.

Seven O'Clock's rhythm doesn't particularly appeal to me, but I wouldn't blame someone for giving it the edge. I guess I'll continue my streak of voting for Pearl Jam songs that are just Ed solo songs.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

I have no particular feelings about CC. I do however very much enjoy CtG.

Just listened to CTG again. Yeah, that song really moves me. That and DOTC are up there with some of their very best stuff.

liebzz wrote:Seven O’Clock has a lot of great sonic textures going on but the star is Eddie. He manages to find an intensity and sense of urgency in his voice without screaming, which he often struggles with but hits it out of the park with his cadence here. In the chorus like breakdowns, you can almost feel like you are floating on the ocean with notable but not overpowering waves bobbing you up and down without trying to drown you - all while that steady climb in the ocean waters present a danger to be overcome - nearly precisely the message happening in this song. That’s one hell of an achievement.

Comes Then Goes is a moving tribute to life in the context of a real loss - but it’s not that.

Comes Then Goes was a bigger standout to me when Gigaton was new, but I think 7 O'Clock has gained a lot of traction since then. I'm going with 7 O'Clock.
