Thinking a bit more about this. I wonder if any of the big changes in human history... everything from democracy to civil rights to the separation of church and state to the hard sciences... all of those ideas we take as foundational principles today... how many of those revolutions in thinking started with some one or some group saying “what if this bad thing is actually great?" Or maybe the the more appropriate question is how many of them didn’t?

What you're suggesting would apply a lot more to things you have openly opposed (like "police abolition!") than it would to reactionary Facebook memes.

It's pretty interesting to see the difference between posters who view the other side as ignorant or foolish vs the moralists who view the other side as evil and react with virulent, bitter hatred.

It's nice to be in a movie theater again, at least until the shitty movie starts.

I view the anti Maskers and anti Vaxxers as dangerous. To be avoided.

Re: Anybody want a Corona?
Insisting on masks for the fully vaccinated only makes sense as a signaling measure. If masking requirements aren't lifted by the end of the year I would take take the anti-mask side as the reasonable one. Not to mention other than that questionable airline study, we don't have great data, nor will we unless someone bucks the IRB and exposes people to an infected person with various mask scenarios.B wrote:I view the anti Maskers and anti Vaxxers as dangerous. Re: Anybody want a Corona?
By the end of the year? I would expect mask requirements to be lifted much sooner than that.
I've always looked as masks as a courtesy to others. So, for now, I wear a mask so people who have no idea what my vaccination status don't have to worry about their safety when near me. I GUESS you could call that theater, but then every polite and courteous thing we do is technically theater.
I don't know when that should end. Not yet, but probably somewhere around end of summer.
