If anyone ever asks me what this song sounds like and I find myself--as I suspect I will--lost for adjectives to describe its boogie-laced glory, I will simply remember the time when said glory prompted a humble member of Team Red Mosquito to send the elegant majesty of the French language rocketing headlong into a phonetic brick wall that resembled a Pokemon character. And those words will convey the glory.

I think it is unfair to malign this track based on this album form, because it clearly had its wings clipped by (probably) the producer... this song has a bbbbrrrruuuutal fade out.... we have not heard "the song" /"the whole song".... right where the lid of the party that is this song is blowing off, the producer hit the "call your parents, pick up your things, time to go home" button. Not fair to the track, not able to be that accurate/precise if attempting to judge this track in this album format. This album cut is just not reflective of the actual song.

It's like we've had this track revealed to us, but to view it, we have to stare through a keyhole. We're only familiar with the teeeny image on the other side. It would be much better if we were standing in the room with it, give it an all-over look-see, as we are able to do with the other album songs thus far.

Once we get in the same room as this thing (live), we'll see it for what it really is; not this through-the-key-hole 1-inch version.

So what you're saying is, this studio version fails (to capture a 5-star song).

I'm one of them. I like it. Now do I really think it's a 5-star song? Not really but who really "rates" songs anyway? I enjoy it. It has a different vibe than most PJ songs. I've been comparing it to Band On The Run-era Paul McCartney. I'll take something totally out of left-field like that over something like Lightning Bolt or Swallowed Whole...both of which we've kinda heard before.

The riff alone is way to weak. It needed that kind of chorus to counterbalance it. If it wasn't for the chorus the verses wouldn't sound interesting enough.

Somebody described it as "1/2 Full meets Supersonic" earlier. That might be a good description. But no, they haven't. What I mean is I'm judging every album post-Riot Act on its own merits, not against those albums. PJ aren't the same now.

alone, yes. but when i changed my vote to 5 stars I had just returned from the future, where I had just witnessed several PJ concerts on the LB tour, including performances of Let the Records Play that totally shredded and were fun and dancy and awesome. So it's kind of like voting for whole lotta love on the led zeppelin greatest hits album; the studio version doesn't really rock that hard, but you vote it 5-star because it represents the ballot-option for that super awesome live version.

I also think Harmless very astutely pinpointed the one thing about this song that I haven't been able to articulate yet, something which gets under my skin far more than its reported Twain-ness--it's Muse-ness.
