I heard like the last 30 seconds of a song on the radio the other day that sounded like Pearl Jam and I was kinda digging it and thought to myself, maybe I need to check out Gigaton again because this is pretty ok. It was Kings of Leon.

I think I've decided that my favorite Boris music (of which I have absolutely not bothered to seek out all of) is the stuff they were doing from 2009-2011. I gave a listen to New Album 2009 on Bandcamp which is basically the original album they were writing at that time to follow up on their "Japanese Heavy Rock" singles series before they wrote too many songs and variations and decided to release three whole albums. It's a really good mix of shoegaze, metal, high energy rock, etc., and the songwriting is extremely on point. I think if they had released that original album, or some variation of it, instead of the weird gimmicky thing they did, then it might be quite highly regarded. The only downside to that is that it's missing a few of my favorites from the time like "Spoon" and "Looprider."

I wouldn't call myself a real Boris fan, per se, but I went through an obsessive stint with them back around the time that triptych of albums came out. I have heard of Bellini, and I know that they put out music on Temporary Residence, but I don't believe I've listened to them.
