Release might be vanilla, but that doesn’t make it good or bad. I explained my rationale over this song a few rounds back.

I mean Sweet Lew, Croon Spoon, or Aye Davanita, should I be favoring these songs because they are weird?

I think sometimes we get in our own heads about this stuff. The song connects or it doesn’t - or exists on a spectrum by which some connect more than others. It’s level of complexity has little to do with it.
