We bought a pergola kit from Overstock. Wife and I are planning to assemble it ourselves. Will it end our marriage? Stay tuned.

Did most of this today. Went surprisingly well. You can't really do it with only 2 people though. A friend stopped by to drop off a hammer drill and ended up helping us with the steps that involved standing up the posts and connecting them to the joists. Not sure how two people would manage that unless they were experienced builders. Anyway, just have to install the bar table and anchor it to the patio tomorrow. The instructions said 8 hours but it'll be closer to 12.

This whole thing ... marriage on the rocks ... handy friend stops by ... it just has the makings of, I dunno ...

We’re getting a new patio with a gas fire table in the back of our house. Watching the landscapers do their thing (pulling up our old patio, removing old bushes and tree stumps, etc) is so satisfying. It makes me want to quit my job and do landscape design.

After killing my push mower early in the season last year, I went shopping for a new one yesterday. Hardly any gas powered mowers were to be found. And what I did find were double the price they were last year. Almost everything was battery powered. I’ve already got some lawn equipment that ran on batteries so I took the plunge and got one yesterday. It’s a different brand than my other stuff and I really hope the batteries are interchangeable.

Finished the yard on Sunday, it looks great. There's a really nice sense of satisfaction at having done something myself that actually kinda turned out.

That said, I'm sitting in the only room I'm allowed in rn as the floor installers are doing their thing and I'm quite glad that I have nothing to do with this project.

And what I did find were double the price they were last year. Almost everything was battery powered. I’ve already got some lawn equipment that ran on batteries so I took the plunge and got one yesterday. It’s a different brand than my other stuff and I really hope the batteries are interchangeable.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Anybody have a battery powered edger they’re happy with? I like my Ryobi lawnmower very much.

I've got the 40v Ryobi trimmer, and I bought an edger attachment, and I love it. One fully charged battery does the trick for both.

I mean, I guess it depends on how much yard you have. Ours isn't that big.
