I learnt some stuff. It's short and cheap.

Just for the sake of historical accuracy, I believe this was originally reported in the Cameron Crowe ‘93 Rolling Stone article
I checked. Appropriately footnoted, but the fact was news to me.

Listened to LA 1 '06 last night and replaying now - the RVM on that is pretty tasty- especially the middle psychedelic e-bow jam out. The '00 RVM's were choice - Always loved this song since 1st listen in October 93. I had a phase where I was burnt out on it, but now it's back to being a setlist highlight.

Studio version will always remain definitive.

A few live versions from 93/94 are great.

Anything after that doesn't hit the mark.

This or Jeremy

Maybe the gimmick for 2024 will be that every song is RVM or Jeremy

Dave had a great story as to what led to his performance and the sticks being thrown.

I guess BoB decided to rile him up keeping the click track running in his headphones, extra loud, and after each take he'd cut everyrthing but the click track and just sit in the recording booth mulling over the performance before telling him he needs "more" from Dave. But he just kept hte click trakc running in his head over and over which got super annoying to dave, along with BoB not telling him exactly what he needs that he just needsa another take. Pissed Dave off so much he ended up throwing the sticks, punching a hole in the snare, then throwing it off a cliff.

Good stuff. Great song. Great look.
