I've been hoping The Kid Detective would pop up on one of my streaming services, but I might just have to bite the bullet and rent it.

Thinking about Kid Detective more and it's grown on me as I've sat with it. I thought it was good last night but now I'm reaching for great. That ending just totally rearticulates the entire movie. And I love the use of Air's "Sexy Boy" for a movie that's basically about not being able to let go of the past, insofar as that song was like sriracha for directors between the years 1999 and 2012 or so--you put it on everything.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

yeah, its a great movie, and i agree, the ending is super powerful. Also, Brody is such a great choice, him also being an actor super attached to something he did like 20 years ago.

Vanilla Sky

When I first saw this movie I was like 14 so my big takeaway was "damn that's crazy." On a more mature viewing it's such a bloated mess of a movie. Great soundtrack though
