That's true. The lyrical snatches we have from the reviews sound pretty dark. Nothing as off-putting as the Sirens lyrics there, but if we know Ed, he'll fit 'em in.

Nothing about this is jumping out at me. Sounds like it might be another track I find inoffensive but unengaging....which is at least better than the "Well, at least you tried, I guess..." of Lightning Bolt or the "Don't ever do that again" response elicited by Records and Future Days.
Shit, worst fear may have been realized. The production on Infallible in that clip is totally different from the live soundcheck version. I FUCKING love the beat, but instead of raw guitars, it's neutered by keyboards. I hope it's different in the full version

No point in hoping it'll be different, it's the song. The only thing taken off is the vocals. I've got a feeling this is the first verse music, going into the chorus. But the guitars could get more obvious later on, who knows?

A band who have been through as much turbulence as Pearl Jam have to know what they are doing to stay on top. And while their contemporaries have died or split-up, or both, they have sat firmly at the top of the ‘biggest rock bands in the world’ list since the early nineties.
The band have always understood the importance of sounding like Pearl Jam. They have a sound, a feel, something that immediately identifies the music as being by them. They have developed within this but never strayed from it
They have that ‘big sound’ - massive sounding drums and bass, guitars up to eleven and Eddie Vedder’s exceptional vocals driving the whole thing forward.

I know this to be true but it still made me crack up.
It's not big grungy guitars but Ive pretty much lost all hope that they're ever gonna sound like that again. But if we're gonna get keyboards and shit this is the way to do it.
So, it’s no surprise to say that their tenth studio effort Lightening Bolt is what you would expect from Pearl Jam. With trusted producer Brendan O’ Brien (famed for his big rock sound) at the helm it has the bombast to be considered up there with the band’s best.

Agreed. I just think whatever they're doing, I want it to have something surprising and creative about it. The concept of blending what sounds like it *would've* been a grunge song way back, with Brendan's pop leanings, could turn out really interesting. Or it could somethin' else.
