It's a great movie. I'm afraid to revisit it now, though. Mickey may have poisoned the well.

I love it. It is a bloated mess and that is part of what I love about it.

I want to be clear--I definitely enjoyed Vanilla Sky, it's just not a good movie.

Mickey wrote:Thinking about Kid Detective more and it's grown on me as I've sat with it. I thought it was good last night but now I'm reaching for great. That ending just totally rearticulates the entire movie. And I love the use of Air's "Sexy Boy" for a movie that's basically about not being able to let go of the past, insofar as that song was like sriracha for directors between the years 1999 and 2012 or so--you put it on everything.
I dont think i ever heard "sexy boy" before. What a song!

I watched the first half of The Dark Knight the other day. It was a lot cheesier than I remembered. Pretty much every line Aaron Eckhart spoke got a laugh. Also, I'm sure it's been discussed before, but Christian Bale's Batman voice is just awful.

I don't think I'll bother finishing it.

Keaton > Affleck > Bale > Kilmer/Clooney

Vanilla Sky is much, much better. It added a lot to the premise thematically, is shot much more elegantly, and gave us a scorcher of a soundtrack

Watched both Little Shop of Horrors. I'd never seen the Corman original. It's fun. They're very different though, and they make for a very good double feature.

For the 1986 one, we went with the version with the restored "apocalypse" ending. Incredible. So much better than the theatrical

Thought Vanilla Sky was mediocre. I’ve got Abre los ojos on my watchlist. It received great ratings various places.

The 1986-version was one of my favorites when I was a kid, saw it many times. Still a good movie.

Never seen the 1960-version.

It’s hard to believe that Cameron Crowe directed Vanilla Sky. It doesn’t feel like a “Cameron Crowe Movie” at all. (Mainly because I liked it)

Nobody

Saw someone call this a Dadsploitation film and I think that’s the perfect descriptor
