Looks like that "pause" might not be quite so brief.

With ~50% of adults having at least one shot and another 10% with documented cases, it's possible/likely the US is now at the lowest proposed threshold for herd immunity (~70%).

Yeah cool except our main messaging was "granny is OK with dying if you all get back to work" so pardon me if I don't really agree.

I think it's well established at this point that the people most frightened by covid are not the elderly, but neckbeards like you.

sure, cases could be going down because people are going outside, but maybe they are also finally following mitigation tactics while indoors because all those annoying health recommendations for months got through to them.

and there's evidence that the fall/winter spike actually got people's attention. things were really bad in states like wisconsin, and then started turning around while it was still cold outside, and before vaccines started reaching an impactful percentage of the population. and hey, maybe that many people got infected, and thus became immune. florida and texas could certainly fall under that umbrella. early signs of herd immunity.

but bill decided to spin it to be funny and look smart, as usual. all while whinging about being spun.

moral of the story is there are a lot of factors at play in all this. it's a complex thing that no one fully understands, so maybe take a little precaution, try not being too dramatic about your fReEdOmS being taking away, and maybe we get past it.

I DO wish we'd sent kids back to school sooner, and I wish Mrs. B wasn't so panicky about that multisystem inflamatory syndrome, but hard to demand an apology from people who were overly cautious while we were trying to figure out a disease that killed 570,000 Americans and 3 million people worldwide.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?
