If I ever win the lotto I'm building a full sized millennium falcon. Keep the design ethic from the interior but make it a cool apartment/mancave. The two gunner pods would be round mini cinema rooms with fridges built into the walls with beers. The cockpit would be exactly as it is In the films. I'd do all my internetting from their. And have the whole back section/exhaust as two/three bedrooms. The ramp would work by palm print.
I've thought long and hard about this.

I'm not kidding. This is seriously something I wanna do someday.
I'd have to build it and leave it inside a warehouse though.
Unlikely I'd ever ever get planning permission for it.
The falcon is the one thing I not only hope they shoehorn into these movies, I think it's imperative that they do.

I'm gonna so hate a Yoda Spin-Off film. They'll probably feature a whole bunch of Yoda's and Yaddle's and that's what the species isn't supposed to be about. Leave him alone!

1) It could just be a temporary lookout post like a cherry picking truck.
2) They're rebels. They have to scrounge broken and/or stolen equipment. That might have been the best thing they could hack together when they needed to get a guy up into a tower.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

I would've been a lot more excited about him before I saw how JJ utilized him in Trek.

Re: Disney buys Lucasfilm. Episode VII coming in 2015.
He is.
I re-watched Super 8 last night with my wife, who hadn't seen it. It got me thinking…JJ did a good enough job creating interesting characters from scratch in that movie. They’re certainly fun, they’re emotionally engaging. We care about them, even if there are an awful lot of "what are you, retarded?" decisions made before the movie is over. Sure, the whole thing was a bit of an homage to old Spielbergian summer fare, but it was still done a lot better than recent Spielberg movies that wanted to be the same thing.
The problem with Star Trek is that he is just too damn referential when dealing with characters that already exist…like, he doesn’t want to put anything into them that hasn’t already been thought up. And there are basically no new characters in those Trek movies to help address the resulting limitation. But maybe the Star Wars films having an equal blend of new and old characters will help bring out the best in him, because having vibrant new characters to bounce off of will prevent him from treating the old ones as reduced and tired homages.

Re: Disney buys Lucasfilm. Episode VII coming in 2015.
Nice post, McP. And true enough.
I think the fact that he's actually, ya know, a fan of Star Wars (unlike Trek) will go a long way to that end as well. But let's also not hang all the blame on Mr. Abrams, as he wasn't the one penning (I'm not sure he even had much of a hand in) those Star Trek scripts. Unlike Super 8.
Episode VII has a fantastic screenwriter. Ad that to everything else you've already said and I think the likelihood of a successful franchise shift is high. Abrams has a lovely aesthetic. That's what Disney is after. I've said before I'm not a huge fan of the Star Wars universe, but Michael Arndt, JJ Abrams, and now Benedict Cumberbatch, have me VERY excited and willing to take this ride again. Which is something I never thought I'd feel or say.

It's just so fucking true.
I mean, I get not liking Abrams. But I don't get not thinking the man takes pretty pictures. For all the reasons to hate Star Trek (for example), 'it's not beautiful' shouldn't be one of them.
