Do we have enough bandwidth for a thread like that?

If nothing matters, does anything?
Maybe some things don't matter so that we can appreciate the things that do matter? (Like drums?)
Would drums actually matter if not for other instruments being around them to not matter?
There's the dog. You can't fake that stuff. Confess with your mouth.

people at my work spent almost a full year using the term "bandwidth" to describe how available they were to take on new projects. As in, "If you need any help with that, I've got a lot of bandwidth right now."

It was awful.

Then, literally in a single day, they all just stopped doing it without any discussion or subsequent acknowledgement of the change. It was like they all just...knew that it was time to stop.

You know, the discussion here a couple of pages (or more) ago about how general music taste somehow is shifting and we are suddenly allowed (or something) to like even the most 'forbidden' things so far, has led me to another clue. I was checking if one of my friends already had her review printed, but it is still too early. Most will appear two weeks before the album release date. So I checked a site for 'Pearl Jam' and found a ridiculous article about 90's 'fashion' and an interview with a singer whose favourite band turns out to be Pearl Jam. It was Ellie Goulding. One of the singers I hear every day because at work they play hit radio stations. I even like her songs, relatively spoken. We already had the One Direction 'connection' and the Made in America trailer. This is a nice addition to this theory, I think.

welterusten,
Mirella :)

Ellie Goulding? She's pretty cool.

I agree. There are a couple of 'hits' I like nowadays. Maybe times are getting better, for music.

I was madly in love with Ellie Goulding for a while and have followed her career really closely since the start. I think I posted her tweets about Ed in the "Random Pearl Jam References" thread. Lights is one of my favorite albums in recent years. The follow-up, Halcyon, was very good, but didn't reach the same heights for me. She's excellent live too.

All that being said, when she went on her whole "I love Pearl Jam" kick over the summer, it seemed really disingenuous. I can't quite put my finger on why, but something about it seemed really hollow and fake.

Hmmm... it does sound like that sometimes when celebs say they like PJ. But maybe that's because at this point we can't believe talented musicians like PJ.

I'm listening to Halcyon Days now on Youtube. 'Tis good. 'Only You' seems to have a big Moby influence.

Edit: 'Figure 8' is such a shame. I really like the song and most of the production but it sounds too close to dubstep.

Figure 8 is probably my favorite song on the album. Either that or My Blood. And I say that as someone who generally can't stand dubstep. Also, the video is unbearably sexy.

SIDE RANT: I hate this shit of repackaging albums with a mini-albums worth of material and presenting it as a new release. "Hey guys, let's add five or six songs to Halcyon, call it Halcyon Days, and charge people for both discs if they want a physical copy of it!" Ugh. Fuck that.

Also, we've spotted that Stone's drawings spell out Pearl Jam right?
