Guys, please stop attempting to argue with Verb. He has absolutely nothing of value to say about this (or anything)
You're wasting your time engaging with him. Covid has broken his brain. Just ignore him.

Re: Anybody want a Corona?
All this bullshit with schools ... kids have to wear a mask at school ... only open 2 hours a day ... can’t eat lunch at the same table ...etc.
Go to any city park (that’s not littered with used heroin needles) and unmasked kids are crawling all over each other on the big toy. They’re fine.

Why don't we get these sad segments when kids die of the flu? There would be more of an opportunity there since flu is more lethal to kids.Stickman wrote:Well...@:35Bammer wrote:All this bullshit with schools ... kids have to wear a mask at school ... only open 2 hours a day ... can’t eat lunch at the same table ...etc.

We're talking about kids. Don't try and pretend they have equal risk as your fat grandma with copdspike wrote:Probably cuz flu hasn’t killed millions of people in the last year.verb_to_trust wrote:Why don't we get these sad segments when kids die of the flu? I’m all for schools being open, in person. My 3 kids were in person school since last Sept.
That said, some of these comments seem to forget that a school is pretty big, and I swear it isn’t only children in that building.

Re: Anybody want a Corona?
All the adults in a school building have had their chance to be vaccinated at this point. If they are scared they can quit.
Some based stats on kids and covid vs flu:
(Numbers as of the end of January)
The CDC estimates there were 480 deaths among U.S. children due to flu in the 2018-19 season, including 136 cases in which the virus was confirmed by laboratory testing.
As of mid-August, 90 children died of COVID-19 in the United States, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics.
More than 46,000 children were hospitalized for flu in that 2018-19 period. The hospitalization rate among children 5 to 17 was 39.2 children per 100,000 children.
The hospitalization rate for COVID-19 is six per 100,000 children for those ages 5 to 17, according to the CDC.

Not the point. If millions of people start dying of the flu, I’m sure you’ll get the dead kid stories you crave.verb_to_trust wrote:We're talking about kids. Re: Anybody want a Corona?
Probably not the worst idea, as once it’s okay to covid vax kids, the hesitancy is going to be even more formidable than what we’re seeing now. And we can’t truly defeat covid without herd immunity, and the consensus seems to be that immune kids will be needed to get there.verb_to_trust wrote:Is that shit really the type of "news" you think people need to see?spike wrote:Not the point. Re: Anybody want a Corona?
We have an estimated 70 million excess vaccines based on what we ordered. The contracts prevent the pharma companies from selling the earmarked vaccines overseas, but it seems that (almost) everyone who wants one here has received one.
Shouldn't we waive the contracts at this point and send some of these to places like India? If they are already paid for, why would the pharma companies protest? If we end up with 70 million + expired vaccines because of bureacratic inflexibility, don't we suck and make China seem a more reliable partner?
