what a freak injury... reminds me of the handful of ankles that have buckled on the bases, but on most of those the players are running hard... Hope its not too serious, hes been fun to watch.Chris_H_2 wrote:Oh, hello Manny Machado gif ...

I kept forgetting to stop by and mention that Jose Fernandez is incredible. Carry on.

Re: MLB
Not that I condone anything in Carlos Gomez's showboating tonight...
but when did the Braves become the Cardinals and the enforcers of unwritten rules?
they better hope NON of their players watch a HR anytime soon LOL (especially Freeman and McCann as thats twice in a few weeks theyve caused brawls over this)
yeah, so he hit a home run and watched it, ya hit Lucroy, and then Lucroy gets to tell Gomez "hey ya see this welt on my body? THANKS A LOT"
and Gomez learns the lesson hopefully

Re: MLB
It wasn't all that clear on the replay, but it looked like Gomez took a huge cut at the previous pitch and then McCann said something to him. I don't blame him for wanting to rub it in a little when he sent the next pitch 20 rows into the stands.MadTIGERmaN wrote:Not that I condone anything in Carlos Gomez's showboating tonight...

Showboating is always pretty stupid, but so is starting a brawl because a guy didn't leave the batter's box fast enough.

Ive spent the last 3 months actively hoping for Indians losses. Now I hope they win out.

Why, so the Red Sox have an easier ALDS? You're not playing the WC winner.@SkitchP wrote:cutuphalfdead wrote:Playoff hunts do weird things to me. I'll be rooting for the Yankees tonight.

The easier the field, the better the chances. I agree that the Red Sox will likely be playing the Indians.
But also, I kinda like the notion of the Central division taking 3 of the 4 wild card spots across both leagues. I mean a playoffs with Detroit, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Cincy and STL is kinda neat, Im just sad that KC faded.

for sure, I know a lot of baseball fans who HATE the Yankees... but almost no one dislikes Mo...Peeps wrote:i despise the sport of baseball but mariano has set the bar as far as class acts go. what a way to go out.
how many athletes (in any sport) were the best at their position, for their WHOLE career, who also, played into their 40s? I mean seriously? you could argue Barry Sanders, DiMaggio, Koufax were at the top the whole time... but they did it for 10 years...
Mo pretty much was the best closer, for his whole career. thats incredible

look at those stats?
11 years with a sub 2 ERA
only 1 year with a +3.00 (as a closer)
his only season with more hits than innings pitched? his FIRST (which was as a starter)
just across the board... greatness

The sox have been pretty classy lately. The Helton and Rivera things right away. Is this a pr thing to change the chicken and beer image or is this actually a real class act?
Excited we are winning games but more excited about the way things are going down.
