Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Meek's Cutoff was good. Not "First Cow good", but good.

I also agree with all the praise for The Kid Detective.

No but it looks atypical for her. More of a conventional plot.
Yeah it almost sounds like a bit of a thriller. But I've seen enough of her work now to think that that probably won't be the case.

I'm going in expecting no dialogue to be spoken for the first 15 minutes and the opening shot to be like 3 minutes of people silently boarding a boat or something.

Didn’t enjoy Meek’s Cutoff. Thought Still Alice was ok. Not seen any of the others.

One of the best movies of the 1970s, certainly in the top ten.

No, that’s Star Trek 4. A bit camp and silly, but quite funny. Not a five star movie though.

In Star Wars (1977) they want to travel to Alderaan, but unfortunately they are not able to.
