It's odd that no one has a solution for the public health issue of obesity that doesn't involve being a dick to fat people.

Inconvenient truths will sometimes hurt feelings. Doesn't make them any less true.

The insult here is that you presume fat people are ignorant of their condition and the consequences of their lifestyle.

Also, that they did not nominate Ello for the position of Personal Truth Teller.

haha, we've been down this road before. tree is truly an enigma.

i tend to believe his thoughts and opinions come from a genuine place and he's not a troll, though he does troll occasionally. but don't we all.

I know you think your cool story about that time some skinny guy died before a fat person is science based evidence of obesity being fine, but you should probably read up on physiology a little more. Just plow through it and don't stop reading just because the content is upsetting.

I wasn't addressing you. You're a little further along than B. We've reached the "agree to disagree" point where you believe some people are simply not able to stop eating despite knowing full well it's killing them.

B, however, is in the denial phase of thinking that some people can be obese while passing as healthy. That's why he talks about knowing a person's "personal truth", and why I call upon things like physiology and factual evidence.

Also, I want it to be clear that I think a person should have the freedom to live the kind of life of their choosing without receiving public ridicule, thus the acceptance part. There are many "unhealthy" habits people live with. Nobody's perfect.

I've never used the term "personal health," but I will tell you about my coworker. Mother fucker is over 300lbs. His bad cholesterol is like 70. His blood pressure is pristine. His doctor, of course, would like to see him lose weight, but can point to no significant risk.

You'd look at this guy and how he eats and is personal hygiene and expect to find him dead at his desk later in the day. But he's been like that for years, and the only thing that will kill him is me, b/c his fucking lipid panels make me see white hot rage whenever I look at him.

All I'm saying, is that there are outliers, and since you and I don't know who they are wanting to tell someone they need to lose weight is a YOU problem, not a THEM problem. And even if the person isn't an outlier, and they're on the brink of death, why is it YOUR job to deliver that truth to them? They know it. They've got family members and doctors. They've had to get off roller coasters b/c the lap bar won't go down. They've had chairs break under them. You're not Nostradamus. You're just a dick.

Don't treat a fat person differently just because you can see their particular burden.

A lot of you are just overly sensitive. Which, make no mistake, I do equate to weakness.

Why is it any of your business what people "need", though? Have you considered you might be wrong? Maybe healthy and fit isn't always the right answer for everyone.
