And Jesse watching Andrea die hit me harder than anything in the previous episode. That was fucking brutal. Yeah, the more I think about it, this episode might have been better than the last one.... maybe....
I just wanted to pop back in and restate how angry I was at seeing baby Holly crying and scared in the firetruck in the previous episode. That hit me harder than just about anything previously shown.

I'm not complaining about the content, it just touches a nerve that TV doesn't really go near very often, and it does it a rational way. It's realistic and logical for the characters and that's what is so terrifying about it.
But I would prefer it if that went back to being somewhat third rail.

I dunno. I think it's less about personal redemption than making having done something in life. His son rejected him, his drug empire is going on without him, and now the company he co-founded says he was not a contributor (and Gretchen, none the less). It's not that he did good or bad, it's that he ended up invisible that pushed him over the edge.

But I actually did think he would go after gray matter because it clearly was the birth of Walts insecurities which is the reason for his power trip and breakdown. its like a father going ona shooting rampage because his wife (or mother in his childhood) abused him mentally and emotionally. The whipping dog at home. I dont know, I think it would be lame if that was the ending, him taking out gray matter, but clearly seeing that brought him back to his tipping point and the fact he had been left out of Gray Matter was a huge turning point in Walts life financially, personally and emotionally. I didnt get the sense that him seeing the interview made him realize he needs to go wipe out the Aryans but rather confront the main event of his life that appears to have been the root cause for who he has become.
And, Todd - Wow, what a great character he has turned into. Cold mother fucker.

I don't think he'll necessarily "take out" Grey Matter-- I still think the focus will be on bringing a reckoning to the Aryans-- but I'm coming around to the idea that he might try putting the screws to Gretchen and Elliot a bit; even if it's only by scaring them and letting them know that he's still out there, and that everything they're saying about him is true, and that they should maybe be a little more careful about disparaging him, etc. I mean, what would he have to lose? He's destined for jail or the grave in short order.

that is the most terrifying scene i've ever seen. i've got two little kids, and that shook me up.
on a lighter note, as i mentioned a couple pages back, walt's new last name is my last name, and today a student of mine saw me in the hall during passing time and shouted, "hey, heisenberg!"
Okay, I've thought about it. Revisited the last two episodes. Jorge's right. Two episodes ago is definitely the better episode. But I still love the last episode, especially the final five, ten minutes.
This past episode was excellent. Those scenes in New Hampshire could have been stretched into multiple episodes, but they covered that material in an extremely concise and convincing fashion.
