When Tarantino, Alien, Star Wars and Shawshank are considered misses, something is seriously weird.

In some cases miss has more to do with where they were taken in the tournament than anything else here. Blowing a first-rounder on Tarantino--a vey good, very important director, but for my money not top-9 of all-time--is a miss. Alien--good movie, but best movie of the 70s, considering Chinatown, Apocalypse Now, and The Godfather are still on the board? Nope.

Shawshank is Hallmark channel trash and Star Wars is a child's movie.

You shut your whore mouth when you’re talking about Shawshank, Michael.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Like, I have no problem labeling Star Wars a child's movie. But imagine thinking that "a child's movie" is some sort of valid argument.

I'm having a difficult time picking actors. I have no idea what I'm gonna do.

I'm curious what RMer's favorite movies and actors are....if I wanted a self conscious critic approved list of the best movies of a given decade I could google it.

Just look at my favorite movies and actors and pick the opposite. And that's RM's favorite.

I like everything on your list. Though I'm that asshole who likes 2010 better than 2001.

I think that's the way to go. I don't take have a strategy in this other than "pick the stuff I like most."

There's one actor I really think I'm going to take but I'm worried you'll get to them first, Ruddo. I'm willing to roll the dice because it's not a deal breaker... But I'm curious to see what happens.

Also, how will y'all determine your votes?

For me, I won't be judging a team as a whole against another team as a whole. I'll be looking at the individual category matchups (60's movie v 60's movie, for example) and seeing which team wins the most of those inner matches.

In case of a tie, I'll look at overall strength of team composition.

His films are just very important to me. If someone else locked him in, even in a later round, I'd be slightly bummed. Probably similar to how Joey felt about securing Fight Club.

We obviously want to get some votes, but it's the most fun when you pick the stuff nearest and dearest* IMO.

*or what's left from the 60's after TGTBATU and 2001 are snapped up. Those were my 1 and 2. Bastards.
