Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Miami Vice was a good tv show. The movie is just ok.

Two of the greatest movies of all time. One is more tight, and has the perfect feel. Two is epic, and De Niro steals every scene he is in.

Scorsese over Fincher (easy, but both are solid)
Rosemary’s Baby over The Great Escape (easy)
Whiplash over The Social Network (easy)

Three fairly easy wins for each, but I think tree_edges the close ones. Though I could hear an argument for Pulp Fiction and The Thing. If they both won, the whole result would change.

Not even close. Unreal that people are hating on Miami Vice in here. And Fincher is little league compared to Scorsese.

Just absurd. I don't believe in objectivity in art, but objectively absurd.

I agree with Mickey, Scorsese can be compared with his peers, Fincher need 10 more years of moviemaking at least.

Man, Marty has forgotten masterpieces like Silence, Kundun or the age of innocence.
