It's entirely possible to not continually engage someone in a particular discussion if you feel they are not acting with a sense of open dialogue and good faith.

I bet Sarge could set up a filter that sends all of verb's posts into a thread called "Verb's Echo Chamber."Bi_3 wrote:It's entirely possible to not continually engage someone in a particular discussion if you feel they are not acting with a sense of open dialogue and good faith.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Re: Anybody want a Corona?
I'm reading Michael Lewis' new book The Premonition and thank god cause now I know where Verb is coming from.
Verb's a washed-up CDC bureaucrat
The book, among other things, tells the story of crafting a federal pandemic response plan in the Bush White House from the perspective of the people who crafted it:
Up until 2005/2006 the federal response was that of the CDC's decades old conventional wisdom. Which was the best you can do is roll out a vaccine as quickly as possible and your people are going to die as they will while you wait. That any infectious counter-measures would do more harm than good.
The Bush administration brought together a group of disparate government scientists, doctors, researchers, and, eventually, the lowest level bureaucrat the CDC could muster to persuade the top CDC officials that more could be done and should be planned for. Quite the task because in the U.S. the CDC is the originator of pandemic conventional wisdom.
In the end the group successfully got the CDC to accept and disseminate their sweeping new guidelines, including the previously-asinine idea of closing schools when things are severe enough.
I haven't gotten to the part yet where we botch the covid-19 response but I can see where things are headed.
So far I'm really enjoying the book.

Fauci said no more masks outside if vaccinated.
