Funny how similar the formulas for MYM and Sirens are. I have a hard time thinking Ed can duplicate vocals this close. I really like both song alot so this is really troubling.

Other than the last part, I thought he sounded great on MYM in London.Tj wrote:Funny how similar the formulas for MYM and Sirens are. I have a hard time thinking Ed can duplicate vocals this close. I really like both song alot so this is really troubling.

Re: Lightning Bolt - October 15
A few of the lines are different on both choruses in Sirens, so I can't tell whether copy and paste is happening; the lines I was focussing on weren't repeated.Tj wrote:If we decide this is the case, and I talking about the cutting and pasting of entire vocal preformances would kill this record.Tj wrote:Ya sorry anbout the lyric screw up I new that somehow I screwed it up, but the falsetto note is the word face. I am speaking abot the word away being cut.harmless wrote:I don't think it cuts out flat at the solo; that's a falsetto note and I'm pretty sure he just stops singing it. Any longer and that note would've sounded silly. There might be something in your cut-and-paste choruses; I hope not but I'll have a listen for that. The lyric on MYM is "Self-realised and metaphysically redeemed" by the way.Tj wrote:I been thinking about a few places along the way on Bolt that bother me, and wonder if anyone else is hearing this. The two sections of MyM that start off "I am metaphysicaly diseased" all the way to "something else" So before the solo and after. Same vocal track, cut and paste action or is it just me. Then we have Sirens same issue for me. "It's a fragile thing" all the way to "seen your face" are those the same vocal preformances. Then again in Sirens Ed sings the fear goes away leading into the solo and it sounds like it should be a long sustained vocal ie Black. Then it just cuts out flat.
Listening to Mind Your Manners, there's a real possibility it happens there.

It's a fragile thing, this life we lead.
If I think too much, I can get over-
whelmed by the grace by which we live
our lives with death over our shoulders.
Want you to know that should I go,
I always loved you, held you high above too.
I study your face; the fear goes away.
thes are the lines I am talking about, before and after the solo.

I wouldn't agree, but I wouldn't argue eitherSJM wrote:Probably going to be called insane, but I I think the first seven songs on S/T is the strongest run on any Pearl Jam album. They're all 4.5 to 5 star songs to me.BootsToAsses wrote:Life Wasted
Worldwide Suicide
Comatose
Severed Hand
Marker In The Sarker
That's a fantastic 5-song combo IMO. But then things take a big dip with Parachutes and Unemployable. Big Wave is groovy in my book, but full band Gone is atrocious. Army Reserve, Wasted Reprise, Come Back and Inside Job is a fine way to end a record.
So that's 10 great songs and 3 bad ones. Pretty solid effort. I don't mind the production either; much better production than Backspacer. The drums sound full and more impactful than Backspacer.

They're different at the "Want you to know..." part, I can tell that. There are three notes on the first chorus' "know", and only two on the second one. Apart from that, I would have to really focus on the details because they're the same tune.Tj wrote:It's a fragile thing, this life we lead.

I know this review has already been posted. But any reviewer who says "Swallowed Whole is similar to Sirens" immediately loses credibility. Oh, and apparently Mind Your Manners has "a real heavy metal feel".
Ugggh
well the opening riff in MYM is fairly metal. And the swallowed whole comment is not that crazy if you read the whole thing: ‘Swallowed Whole’ is similar to ‘Sirens’ – it begins quietly but builds to a rocking climax'
I don't know how rocking a climax sirens has, but that's not a ridiculously absurd comment on its face.
Once again, the main issue, the only issue, really, is that TSIS has not gotten an advanced copy for me to review. I haven't seen this trending on twitter or anywhere. Wake up, America.

Thing is Tj, if copy-and-paste jobs are a problem here, you can guarantee they're there for you to find on Backspacer as well.

do i think the vocals are repeated? I'll listen for it on the way home, but there are people here who are far more likely to spot this than I am.Tj wrote:Stip what do you think?

I guess the answer is that if it's happening on Sirens, it's too subtle for me to tell. It's more likely on MYM, but my ears aren't fine-tuned enough to tell.
