I regrettably do not read much fiction these days. Work schedule and toddler schedule are so demanding. It feels selfish to hole up for a few hours with a good book. Her style and brevity are perfect for what I need to keep my fiction diet steady, I've found. Also, Carver and Hannah.

I read Gilead and another Marilynn Robinson book a few years ago and can't remember a thing about either one of them. I think there was a preacher in one of them? Something about race relations in Iowa, maybe?

Yes, I've read both. And I think they're both exceptional, but for different reasons. I think I have a personal preference for Flame Throwers. But my wife is team Cuba.
