I started reading Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? last night. I’ve never been a huge fan of Bladerunner, so I’m not quite sure why I picked this up, but I can say that 20% in I like this waaaay better than the movie.

All of the stuff with animals that's front and center in the novel is like 10x more interesting than any of the lore in the movie. Also, I'm only 1/5 of the way in, but Decker in the novel seems like...well, he sort of seems like a loser. Not the sort of character that Harrison Ford could believably play at all.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Started this the other night on Kindle and about 20% in. It's fine! I hated Fortress of Solitude so I'm apprehensive, but I wanted a bedtime read I didn't have to think too hard about.
