Yeah but the ending of season one of True Detective was hokey dogshit

this. all that talk of the yellow king, and it was some landscaper who diddled his sister. everything leading up to that moment was great.

These type of shows never wrap up satisfyingly. It’s about the journey.

Yeah so Mare actually did wrap up satisfyingly, hence it's better than the red herring factory of TD S1.

the journey of TD1 was so good, it makes the ending seem lesser. mare was more consistent, but never reached the highs of TD1 (watch the six minute tracking shot scene following Rust at the drug house as a refresher).

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.
