Same here. I don't hold out much hope for how WES and SBWM will sound.

I can see it going down the Getaway or GSMF path, where whatever happened in the studio just doesn't translate to the stage and they shelve it.

Too fast, too sloppy, played in a lower key, etc.

With the caveat that I'm not a musician that seems like a fairly easy song to sing/play. The vocals aren't fast, the range isn't stretching. Seems tailor made for him right now. I assume Who Ever Said will be a staple

I'm hoping the 'recording songs in a key we can't actually play them in' trend was a relic of the Bad Brendan Years, but time will tell.

The record didn't hit the mark for me, and certainly hasn't revitalised my interest in the band or anything crazy like that, but I'll still be interested to hear how they pull these songs off live in a few months' time.

I've sung along to the big bridge of WES so many times now, and I always trip up a little bit; tis the best part of the song though

for me, a major reason I like the album a lot is that it doesn't leave me thinking "oh well, at least these songs have potential live"; I honestly don't care either way, for the first time in a long time, because I feel like they created something of worth as a studio album with its own artistic vision, not just a quickly dashed off excuse to tour

I manually turned off Apple Music, annoying as shit always popping up.
Is it worth it? Has anyone listened to the Dobly Atmos thing?
They should just put all the 4K visuals together (except for Superblood Wolfmoon) and release the Dolby audio in Bluray.

Totally agree.

I am with you on this. At this point i'd personally rather have a really great album that takes them out of their comfort zone than one that will for sure translate well (or easier!) live.

“Gigaton” was all done in-house, and I’m proud of that. It wasn’t the easiest record to make, but everybody came together at the end. We worked really hard on it. A good chunk of that record could be really fun to play live. Even in the rehearsals we did, we got a sense of which sections of songs could stretch out. You really don’t know until you’re in front of a live crowd and the energy is flying around the room. That’s the exciting thing about finishing a record. We’re always surprised when a song that isn’t one of the leading candidates turns into a really fun one to play. “Quick Escape” is an obvious one that could really stretch out live. I’m excited about “River Cross,” which is one of my favorite things we’ve ever done, and one of my favorite songs Ed has ever written. It was really outside of our normal instrumentation and it’s such a beautiful song. I think that will go over really well live.
