Trag is the sonic expert here and he is saying otherwise.
If Trag is wrong with this one then he cant shit about St Vincent vocal effects no more.

tragabigzanda wrote:I was just arguing that the album doesn’t require a remaster. Outside of some very mild muddiness on IMT and Present Tense, the album sounds damn near perfect, and modern remasters typically hype the top and bottom end.epilogue wrote:Earlier, trag said that wasn't the case. That's why I'm curious to know what he thinks the reason is.VinylGuy wrote:yeah, its fucking weird they are expanding this one in two. Its because of the fucking mastering right?
As for the thinking behind 2LP: records tend to lose fidelity as the needle approaches the center, with loss of bass and/or audible distortion or even skipping being common results. So the idea behind two LPs has always been to preserve the best possible frequency response throughout the entirety of an album.
Again, I’m not sure No Code needs this — my OP sounds glorious. I will say that I often am a BIG fan of how albums can be sort of reimagined when they’re broken up into four discrete sides, and I think No Code could benefit in that regard.

Is it two discs because its a 45 rpm master or something?

Re: No Code Vinyl
If Pearl Jam started doing that, I would buy a new turntable. I love the sound of well-mastered 45 RPM albums, and that's the one speed that my turntable has a little trouble with.super nintendo chalmers wrote:Is it two discs because its a 45 rpm master or something?

Can't wait to hear this with more space - I've always loved how these were recorded and sounded anyway.
Also: Nine polaroids aren't the complete set - the record was just like the CD with four sets of nine. Also hope it opens like this:

Losing our minds? What do you think this is? The Pit?
We're bitter, apathetic, and sarcastic.
If they'd put out 15 billion of these, there'd be an equal number of negative, anti-10C posts in this thread. Guaranteed.
The price would be too high.
The shipping would be too high.
This OBVIOUSLY should have been aqua vinyl.
Oh, and by the way, Matt Cameron drums too fast and they fucked up "Oh Beth."

I'm aware of Bob Ludwig's work.tragabigzanda wrote:I’ll say it again but differently: the dynamic range will be tighter. Even if they increase the “space” by bumping the HF and widening the stereo spread, there will be less openness due to less dynamic range.nomorecrackpipes wrote:Can't wait to hear this with more space
I’m beating this horse so people don’t lose their minds about not getting their hands on something that is almost certainly going to be inferior.
