I probably shouldn't ever read it, actually. That passage you posted doesn't really seem like it's about assfucking at all to me. And that McSweeney's article was too long. *shrugs*

Oh, I should've clarified--those are actual letters that Joyce wrote to his wife that were in his papers. Not passages from Ulysses.

I've decided that Motherless Brooklyn sucks, but I'm too far in it to quit now.

Naw, man. Get out. Life’s to short to devote time to things you don’t like. Put it down and go on to the next one.

It would take more time to find another book that I can comfortably read while drunk than it would to finish it, plus you can't undervalue the moral superiority of being able to say I read it and I know it sucks

I think it's especially tough to pick what to read next after you read a book that you didn't enjoy. This happened recently and I must've flipped through 20 books on my Kindle before picking something I've read before because I just wanted to be really engaged and enjoy something.

This is an enjoyable and easy read, and the recipes between chapters are a nice touch. Totally trying his rice milk recipe tomorrow morning.

Re reading Lo Salvaje, a comic from Argentina thats a masterpiece. Also read Cotillon, another comic book full with great visuals and not a single line of dialogue.

I'm reading 3 books concurrently right now, which is very strange for me, but I'm also having an uncharacteristically difficult time deciding what to read next. So I'm just dipping in and out of these three story collections:

You should read my wife's story collection. And then you should give it a five star review on all relevant platforms.

Pleasantly surprised by this. Between it being his first novel and me fundamentally disagreeing with the main thrust of the story: automation bad, I didn't have overly high hopes. It lacks that Vonnegut flair and is by far the most standard thing I've read from him, but I still really enjoyed it.
