Boston 10 is out. I'm highly skeptical and the two colorways are too bland for me to try them.

Feeling the call of trail running as of late, so I'm going to try to piece together four miles around here on Wednesday. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/texa ... ail/photos

Picture a lone patch of woodland floor clinging on for dear life while urban sprawl encroaches on all sides.

This was fun as hell. There were a couple of moments I was second guessing myself going alone due to fear of snakes, unmarked turns, and general lack of confidence traversing hills with roots, but those moments were few and far between. A trail this short so close to the park and freeway is near impossible to get lost in for too long. For the most part the miles flew by even though I was going slow. ended up piecing together four miles in a little under 40 minutes. I very much wish there were more areas like this where I live. There is about 130 miles like this an hour north of me though...

I watched an 18 minute review by a guy on YouTube. It soured me completely. The Adizero Pros I have are very unforgiving and I feel like there won't be enough cushion in these new "Bostons" either. They seem like a wannabe Endorphin Speed. Just spend the extra $20 and get a pair of those.

It's too late. I'm in the zero drop eco system now. I tried to run in my Hokas the other day and my calves and Achilles started hurting immediately.

yesterday i took my daughter out to Big Sky so she could see her mom at work, and we spent the rest of the day on a canoe, going to the farmers market, enjoying the town...

Wife snapped a picture of me loading my kid into the canoe and I saw it last night. I look awful from the waist down: My formerly wiry and toned frame has become fairly formless and lumpy. It made me feel awful.

Getting a gym membership tomorrow, will be hitting the treadmill no later than this weekend.

First day at a new gym, got a fitness tracker at target then went right to the treadmill.

3.88 miles / 52 minutes / 440 cals

Wow, that's some good effort out the gate trag. Are you getting back into running or just starting out?

Regarding the insole question, do you have access to a shoe store with employees who can look at your gait and recommended categories to you? That helped me a lot from the get go, but no matter what you have on your feet, your mind is going to take a beating harder than your legs... especially starting out. If you can push past you mental doubt, your legs and feet will be there for you.

Mostly talking out of my ass here, but I think maybe you might have luck with neutral shoes if you're using those insole things. The more experienced runners in this thread will be of more help but I figured I'd share this from the Saucony website just in case.

I can say with confidence that if you have knee pain, look for lower heel to drop ratio. The less you have under your heel, the less tempted you are to heel strike. Heel strikes shoot that ground shock right up your leg directly into your knee and lower back. I have noticed significantly less pain after switching down from 8-10 drops to 0-4 drops in the last year.
