For the first 5 hours or so I was stumbling around, jerkily getting used to the game's mechanics and flow--it was a fascinating marriage or narrative and form. For the next 5 hours, I gained a great amount of confidence, now I know exactly which screen to go to in order to plan my next move, I can hold lots of info in my head and a tiiiiny bit of dialogue will send me directly to the next most logical interview, and I enter new areas with a purpose and excited to see what happens next. The MVP of this game is the guy who does the voice acting for your mind--I've started to hear his voice inside my head when I'm not playing (if you're wondering how things are going for me).
Similar experience for me (minus the whole hearing the voice in my head). I need to get back to it, however. Took a break for Returnal.
Last night I failed a check when (late-game spoilers here)
Spoiler: show
I was trying to get Kim to dance, and I ended up calling him a "Monkey fucker," and he stormed away for the rest of the day.
I can't express to you how badly I felt about doing this. This game is messing with me.

Anyone played this? So far its 90% cutscenes. Wondering when I actually start “playing”.

I did. First section is pretty slow. It ramps up a bit after your hair gets longer (that's a spoiler free way to say it).

Not playing, but getting back into watching competitive RTS like Starcraft 2 and also some speedrunning (wtf?), namely Final Fantasy VII classic. The calculations these guys do on the fly is very impressive.

I've gushed about Disco Elysium quite a bit in this thread, so I'll make this short and sweet: finished this last night, and I can't say enough good things about it. It was funny, original, spooky, sad, weird, and just overall the video game I feel like I've been waiting years to play. Highly recommended!

I did run into a technical glitch that drove me mad: after about 2 hours of playing last night, the game refused to save any more. I knew I was near the endgame, so I just soldiered through for another 2 hours and finished it, but it was disappointing to rush through some stuff that I normally would've taken more time on. I will probably wait a few weeks and then play through those last few hours at a more normal pace to see if there's anything I missed.

I'm moving onto Final Fantasy VII next--the original, not the remake! I have a vague but for some reason strong memory of being in a basement at someone else's house when I was in 7th grade and having to watch other people play this but never actually getting a turn. Ready to see what all the fuss is about!

lol just kidding about the bolded part--just loaded it up this afternoon to see how far along my latest save was, and it turns out all of my saves were corrupted and deleted. Glad I stuck it out and finished last night, or I would've had a completely different set of things to say about this game.

So I checked and the most recent backup save online was from May 24th. Does the PS4 really only update online save files once per month? Is there some setting I don't have switched to on?

Not the biggest loss ever, as I did play the game to its end credits.

It should do it every night if it detects a new save. Might want to mess with the settings.

It could also be a rest mode v. power off issue.

This seemed to have worked! There was something off about the settings, and nothing was allowed while in rest mode. Looks like everything backed up last night after I changed everything and it went into rest mode.

That's (one of the reasons) why I have 19 working systems hooked up and ready to roll! I want these systems to work 20 years from now too!
