Torins are like escalantes with a higher stack, right? I might look into those later this year when my kinvaras get a little worn. Love my kinnies though so I might just buy another pair. Or both!ghost wrote:The Altra Torin 5s are nice. I have too many fucking shoes.

Re: The Running Thread
Yeah they're the Hokas of Altra, basically. I'm gonna rotate them with the Carltons.washing machine wrote:Torins are like escalantes with a higher stack, right? Re: The Running Thread
I had a little time yesterday after work and took the chance to go to a local shoe store and hold some endorphin speeds. Felt like that wayne's world scene with the guitar. We should just convert this to the running shoe thread already.

Re: The Running Thread
Where do you live? I know here in NC, the humidity is a HUGE factor in how I feel at the end of a run. If my sweat can't evaporate I look and feel like death, even if I ran the same run 2 days ago and felt fine.tragabigzanda wrote:2.5 miles / 35 mins / 240 cals
Somehow I sweat a lot more than my bigger run the other day
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Re: The Running Thread
Goals are so weird. I have a goal to get to a 10k before the end of the summer, which in my mind means that I just forget about pace altogether and focus on building endurance and distance. However, I also can't help but see a sub-25 minute 5k looming just over the horizon for me and I find myself chasing that on every 3-mile run. Will I burn myself out again this way? Stay tuned.

Re: The Running Thread
Good job, trag. I'm looking forward to getting back out there when my legs start feeling better. Maybe tomorrow.

Re: The Running Thread
Pushed real hard for a couple days straight, nearing 5 miles each, then got a cold which is still lingering. Tried to run a couple days ago and legs aren't ready yet. General stiffness/soreness.

Re: The Running Thread
My body dysmorphia is off the charts lately. So much so that yesterday I wore a shirt while running and grinded out 7 instead of 5. Needless to say, my nips are so raw that just my headphone cord brushing them is excruciating. Anyway, I meant to do 7 again today. Got to 5 and it was clear I'd have to walk one and run the last one. So I'm down on my fat ass for that. I start running that last mile, and about a minute into it a black dude roughly my age is walking toward me. Never seen him before in my life. We have no history. He suddenly starts imitating my stride and then laughs. Fucking humiliating. I could have shit myself and been less self-conscious for that last mile: I'm not going back outside today.

Re: The Running Thread
I went ahead and Googled it for you and this is the thing that popped up on top of the page. I hope this is the information you were looking for. It's quoted below. Please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you. Thanks!
According to a study done by the Medical College of Wisconsin, an individual burns 705 to 866 calories while jogging on a treadmill, depending on the individual, speed and incline. In comparison, according to Health Status, one hour of work on an elliptical will burn 773 calories.
