Well, I have no idea what's flawed in Matt's drumming in the video, but to the extent anything is, his killer background vocals more than make up for it!

He botches the second fill in the intro. It's pretty egregious.

Re: Lightning Bolt - October 15
I think he just starts it a little late/off time but finishes the kick/crash on the correct beat. I could be wrong, I'm a drummer with a generally very loose playing style - so he could have just played it a little 'loose'.theplatypus wrote:He botches the second fill in the intro. I prefer it to the studio version by a big margin. I think it manages to dull all the worst attributes of the studio version.Sgt. Crackpot wrote:In some ways I prefer it over the studio version.BDB wrote:wait, do we now hate the Sirens video version?
Because about 150 pages back, people were creaming their pants about it.

I like the studio version more, it's just louder. But Stone's part on electric guitar is my favorite part and it's more pronounced in the video version. Both versions are good.

Third. I'm a musician too. I haven't compared the studio and video versions really, but I have watched the video and made a point of listening to Matt's drumming in the intro. Sounds bang on to me.

Re: Lightning Bolt - October 15
It's really not an enormous fuckup, nor does it ruin the performance, but I do think it's noticeable and distracting. It could've been easily fixed in post. It certainly doesn't warrant 10+ pages of discussion, but this is RM, and we are RMers.
