I'm not saying that using the entire day is a bad call. I'm sure there are some purists out there that would say we're not making the real dishes in 2 hours or whatever. Either way, we ended up doing a shrimp an and andouille pasta instead.

Oh we're including obvious "goes without saying" special times/occassions?
In that case, 1am on a Tuesday at any 24 hour Price Chopper in suburban Kansas can't be beat!

Re: What are you making tonight?
Where I'm at, I have two options--I can walk to grab groceries (~40 minutes round trip) or I can take the car. The former means limiting myself to what I can carry; the latter means having to deal with parking. Each option is easier in the morning, either because it means avoiding the heat of the day or getting back at a time when parking is still reasonable. If I do a late-afternoon grocery run it's either because I've already started cooking and ran out of something, or I've already planned to make a very easy meal that night.

All of that is totally reasonable and makes good sense for your situation.

Re: What are you making tonight?
mistake no. 1: i used a gas grill (i was short on time). mistake no. 2: i let my guard down for one second, even though i was aware of the constant flareups because of the fat in the ribs, and the next thing i know the grill is spewing black smoke (i opened the grill and the grate is all flames).doug rr wrote:go on...Chris_H_2 wrote:This was a disaster. i did manage to salvage most of the ribs (luckily they were bone side down). but they were still sooty.
