Since it took ONE day for a manager to give us our first bush-league, gamesmanship pitcher check, I would implement something along the lines of if a manager requests a pitcher be checked and nothing is found, the current batter is out.

it sounds like you would just eliminate all manager challenges. after all, your rule would dissuade every challenge because the only way a manager would challenge under those circumstances is if it's blatantly obvious, in which case the umps presumably would step in.

Yeah, I'm fine with no manager challenges at all.

That's basically what they do in hockey--if you lose the coach's challenge you get a minor penalty. I see no problem with something similar.

I’m just saying, that’s the 6th time they’ve hit Acuna with the 1st pitch in a game. Even if that one wasn’t on purpose it’s about time they threw out Mattingly.

“Hempler’s Bacon” is written in chalk on the back slope of the Mariners pitchers mound. That seems a little much.

Happy draft day.

It seems like everything is pointing to Mayer as the #1 pick. I guess there were some rumblings today that the Rangers are leaning towards Rocker at #2 instead of Leiter, but I don't believe that. I hadn't heard of Jacob Jobe until a week ago, but he seems like a fast climber. Will be an interesting night.

Wish the Rays could trade for this version of Adames.

I just saw a story where a group of 4 people at a hotel near Coors field (All Star game coming up … big crowds) were arrested with like a dozen rifles and 1000 rounds of ammo. Speculation that it was a possibly similar plan to the las Vegas country music concert shooting.

"We have no reason to believe this incident was connected to terrorism or a threat directed at the All-Star Game," the FBI Denver said in a statement. "We are not aware of any threat to the All-Star Game events, venues, players, or the community at this time."
Don't worry, whichever Mariners player is going (because I think every team is still required to have one player no matter how awful they are) is safe.

Yes one per team still required. Ours is a pitcher who got shelled his last outing and was put on the injured list today.
