Was hoping this was going to be a more "serious" movie but from the previews it looks pretty lighthearted and jokey.

I'm desperate to watch something in a theater and its either this or Fast and Furious 27 so...
Spoiler: show
- Kind of a watered down Winter Soldier. No, that's exactly what it is.

- Johansson is very dull and lifeless, but the supporting cast is good. I liked the little sister.

- not the best send off for the character, but they could do worse.

- Typical Marvel

I loved it.
Spoiler: show
While being a final goodbye to Natasha, it introduces a new direction for a Black Widow in a post-Avengers MCU. By the re-introduction of Contessa, I pretty much guessed why she showed up, but not WHY. Is she putting together some sort of assassin squad? Who’s she working for? She’s turning out to be the Phase 4 Nick Fury and I’m very excited to see where it goes.
While not the best Marvel movie, it’s certainly not the worst.

It was fine; I enjoyed it. Solid B/B+. Tonally, it did feel like a bit schizophrenic.

The timeline placement was a good idea and eliminated the need for yet another origin story movie that relies on multiple actresses and CGI. It does feel, however, like Marvel continues to pull their punches on depicting her upbringing and all the bad shit she did to make her "ledger" run red with blood. We've really only ever seen the "chaotic good" version of Natasha. Balancing that with a bit of her assassin stuff would've been nice to see. Also surprised we didn't get to finally see a flashback to the Budapest Incident (though it was well described).

This was fucking great, and this is why:

I like superheroes that aren’t gods or androids. She should have died from blunt force trauma multiple times for sure, but the fighting was more like a Bourne movie, and I appreciate that so much more than shit like Vision fighting White Vision or whatever that video game scene was.

The supporting cast is great, and I really liked the little sister. If she’s going to be a major part of the Hawkeye show, I’m all in. I hope she’s in multiple movies going forward.

Not showing the Budapest incident was smart. Remember when they showed the Kessel Run in Solo? Some things are better left to the imagination.

This was a Mission: Impossible movie with a but more humor. David Harbour is a ham, but he made me laugh more than once (putting on the suit and the Ace Ventura dart thing). Falcon and Winter Soldier could have used more humor. That should have been superhero Lethal Weapon, and they blew it.

The Widows is really fun concept. During the short training sequence in The Red Room, I wanted some Robert Palmer music.

This movie is a B+. It isn’t anywhere near Avengers 1, Guardians 1, Ragnarok, or Winter Soldier, but I enjoyed it more than more than half of the Marvel movies, for sure.

I agree with a lot of what you said, dt. I also really liked this movie. I'd probably rate it a tad higher, personally. I thought it was a win all around.

I really liked it as well. The sister and her Dad were hilarious IMHO. Defo the highlight for me.

It was entertaining. And I loved the end credit scene. A nice little twist.
