Re: The Running Thread
I watched this and immediately went out in the rain for two miles back and forth on a "secret" trail behind the park near my house today. Sometimes you just run for the fun of it. I'm at that point lately. Forget everything I said about "scaling back" or whatever. This feels like the kind of momentum I just have to ride for a while. Anyone else on this trip right now?

Re: The Running Thread
Yeah I’m loving running lately. I wish I could go for hours but my body just can’t handle it yet.

Re: The Running Thread
Wishing I could too, but household demands won't allow it.
I've taken to either waking up at the crack of dawn with epilogue joe or else taking my time getting to work via a little running nearby beforehand.
Getting our kid into childcare has opened up some time, but still there's so much to do around the house. And this is just me trying to pull off a measly 15 mile week. I don't know how ultra runners with families do it.

Re: The Running Thread
Are you asking in the context of the running thread because you want to keep running but like the way the bike makes your legs feel? If I'm reading you correctly, I would say work a day or two of spinning into your routine. Your legs will strengthen pretty quick and your running (and spinning!) will feel better.tragabigzanda wrote:I rode a stationary bike yesterday at the gym and it was awful. I hated every second of it. But my legs don’t feel destroyed today. Not sure what to do here.

Re: The Running Thread
What don't you like about the bike? Right before I started running I lost 50 lbs riding a stationary bike every day like a lunatic for about 5 months. Easy way to burn a bunch of calories fast.
Spinning is a different story...I took a few of those classes and they kicked my ass.

Re: The Running Thread
Oh, I should clarify. I am calling any activity on the stationary bike or on a real bike "spinning".
Definitely don't actually join a spin class.

Re: The Running Thread
Our toddler woke up in a teething fury as I was getting ready for another dawn run. I guess I'm either skipping my nap for a midday run today or else running late night after a busy bar shift.

Re: The Running Thread
Got a late start to the day. Didn't end up heading our for my run until close to noon. Just a quick 3.5. Good run.

Massive weekend run there, ghost. Did you have a race or something?

Nah, it's just a buildup for a marathon in September. Got some 15, 16 and 19 milers coming up too.

6.35 this morning.
Much shower than normal but my last mile was my fastest and that made me feel better.

Re: The Running Thread
I was listening to a recent Believe in the Run episode and heard something I needed to hear. You might like it too. The guest (I forget who) was all about how if you're finished with your run and the time on your watch is all you got out of it, you're missing the point. It's a run you did. For 6+ miles, you were out there on your own time, passing all sorts of things and people, running on all sorts of surfaces... Just taking it all in, whatever that means on your typical run. Don't you love it?epilogue wrote:6.35 this morning.

When you think about it, so is running.

Re: The Running Thread
To be honest that feels condescending and not at all the point of what I posted. But that's just me. If that means something to you, then I support it for you and hope it continues to motivate and inspire you. While it doesn't mean as much to me, I appreciate that you thought off me and shared it. That's awesome.washing machine wrote:I was listening to a recent Believe in the Run episode and heard something I needed to hear. You might like it too.
