The death toll is worse.

133 people. Germany is the most got its shit together country in Europe.
If this doesn’t set a bomb under EU climate policy nothing will.
Germany definitely have the loudest voice in the EU

Domestically, Germany seems hellbent on increasing their dependence on Russian Oil and Gas. Hopefully they don't push de-nuclearization on the rest of the EU.

Its kinda crazy some of those old german houses have high water marks on various spots more than 10 ft above street level, going back centuries. What were they doing with their building codes 400 yrs ago?

I was suggesting they had some teutonic masonry/ joinery magic, but I'm open to your theories.

Also agreeing, that as far as we can tell, it was just a flood.

Noticed this morning that it seemed incredibly hazy out there, kept getting worse. Come to find out... This isn't the first time we've had smoke in the atmosphere here, but I don't remember seeing a smoke haze like this over Connecticut in the past.

Welcome to what I've been dealing with for the past 5 days. Air quality has been so poor at times, they're telling people not to go out if possible.

Ok guys, but I live in New England. All I’m saying is that it’s rare here.

I do like every fire season we get the obligatory NYT piece explaining that the reason New York sunsets are so pretty is because the entire West is on fire.

The sunsets (and morning sun!) do look nice. We just can’t usually see & smell the smoke.

Crazy amounts of rain here the last few weeks. Definitely some aggressive weather patterns out there.
